A Note from Thomas Mosser!
The origins of Mosser Glass go back more than half a century to the time when my father Orie was the plant manager of the Cambridge Glass Company. I began working there as a teenager, learning the trade the right way, from bottom to top. When Cambridge Glass closed in 1954, I decided I wanted to continue in the glass business with a company of my own. It took a while for a young man just starting in life to put together the elements necessary to do that. I spent five years buying glass moulds, searching for used equipment I could afford and saving money. In 1959, I was finally able to begin manufacturing glassware in, of all places, an abandoned chicken coop. Things worked out and within two years, I was able to leave the coop and form Variety Glass, producing glassware for the pharmaceutical industry.
I had decided from day one that I was committed to manufacturing quality glassware and I feel that brought us continuing success. In 1971, I established Mosser Glass. Today, we employ over 30 people in an efficient manufacturing process configured to provide the highest quality glassware for our customers. Our product line mixes new designs with timeless classics acquired from Viking, L.G. Wright and, of course, Cambridge Glass.
I am also proud to say my family continues to operate the company. Georgianna, my wife, brings her love of antiques to the design of original pieces. My son Tim is the plant manager, and my daughters Sally and Mindy oversee the office. This mix of generations brings new ideas to the company without the loss of the traditions our customers cherish.
My family and I are proud of the legacy that my father Orie began. We hope it brings you as much pleasure as it brings us.

The Reason Behind the "Royal"
For almost 200 years, The Royal Doulton Company has specialized in fine bone china and porcelain for the table and collectibles. Royal Doulton, as evidenced by the name, enjoys the distinction of a "Royal Warrant". A Royal Warrant is bestowed upon people or companies who have regularly supplied members of the Royal Family with goods or services. It is regarded as a mark of supreme excellence and quality. It cannot, of course, be bought or sold. King Edward awarded the first of five Royal Warrants to Royal Doulton in 1901. The Doulton Company then became The Royal Doulton Company. Royal Doulton now holds two Royal Warrants. Our other brands have also been honored: Royal Albert holds two Royal Warrants and Minton holds one.

Perhaps the greatest contribution a company can make is to remain loyal to the truths from which it was founded. At no other time have we been more proud to be an American company that has consistently produced a superior product, for over 130 years, unequaled to any in the world.
Our founding father, Amos Ives Root, was a shining example of the American spirit. Known as "the father of modern day beekeeping", A. I. was a gentleman of integrity and scientific curiosity who was just at home in the pulpit as he was addressing a Congressional hearing. A true innovator and entrepreneur, he always sought a better way. His inquisitive mind led him to build a better beehive and create new ways to harvest honey. In 1869, he founded the A. I. Root Company where he manufactured a new beehive, that, for the first time, made it possible for beekeepers to harvest their honey without destroying the colony of bees. His books and magazines, including The ABC of Bee Culture and Bee Culture Magazine, continue to be published today and remain as the primary source of information to the beekeeping industry. In the 1920's, the Root brand of honey was advertised and well known to be the finest table grade honey available.
A.I. was a visionary with faith in others who dared to dream. A friend of the Wright Brothers, he published the first account of their flight (found today in the Smithsonian Institute) when few others believed what they had done. He was a humanitarian lauded by 11 year old Helen Keller for his kindness.
The Root Company's early honey and beeswax enterprise turned to candlemaking in 1928 at the request of a local priest looking for higher quality candles. Today, we remain a leader in Liturgical candles as well as producing beautiful candles with lovely fragrances for your home. Nothing can compare to the quality of a Root Candle. Amos Ives Root wrote in 1917, "I looked up at the stars and stripes that were floating in the wind from the flag pole over our company and said, The A. I. Root Company, God permitting, will last for years after A. I. Root, himself, is gone".
We're also right where we started in 1869 in Medina, Ohio within our beautifully restored original brick building.
